Santa Claus Preparing to Use Durasoil This Year to Improve Landing Conditions for His Reindeer and Sleigh

Published on

North Pole - Santa Claus has selected Soilworks’ Durasoil to coat his sleigh’s runway this year and create safe landing zones in remote areas as he travels across the world making his annual Christmas deliveries. The selection was made after Santa read that Durasoil was just awarded a third patent and excels in extreme cold arctic weather conditions.

“Cold climates can be rough on runways, especially in extreme temperatures like those at the North Pole,” Santa said. “Durasoil provides the stability the reindeer need for a safe and efficient take off. We are flying in the middle of the night, you know.”

As Santa makes his rounds this Christmas Eve, the elves will arrive at the landing site in advance to lay down a coating of Durasoil on the ground before Santa lands, creating a safe landing zone free of dust for the reindeer. Since all Soilworks products are both environmentally friendly and safe to use around animals, elves and people, the reindeer will also be safe.

Santa said he chose Durasoil because it gives his team the flexibility to apply the product in extreme cold, something other products don’t offer. So, even if the reindeer have to land in areas where the temperatures are extremely cold, Santa can trust that the unique, state-of-the art Durasoil, which utilizes gas-to-liquid (GTL) technology, can withstand freezing conditions approaching -40° C/F for long periods of time.

“If the reindeer have to land in remote dirt road conditions, they could be sneezing and blinded by the dust,” Santa said. “We want the reindeer to be safe and save time when making our deliveries.”

Santa said he expects this Christmas to run smoother than ever before, thanks to Durasoil. Using Durasoil to coat the runways will make for much more efficient take offs and landings. He said he hasn’t heard from the reindeer yet because, well, they’re reindeer. Reindeer don’t talk.

“But if they could, I’m sure they’d say thank you to Soilworks,” Santa said, before laughing heartily and wishing everyone a Merry Christmas.

For non-Christmas related dust control, dust control professionals also turn to Soilworks. Durasoil is trusted by the U.S. Military on runways and helipads to prevent brownouts and the Kopp-Etchells Effect caused by dusty sand. A 2012 U.S. Army Corps of Engineers report revealed that Durasoil treated sand is safer then multiple alternatives blowing out the lowest level of ejected sand when compared to untreated soil or soil treated with water.

In addition, Durasoil has been used for years in cold weather climates. Durasoil is currently used by the Alaska Department of Transportation for numerous airports in Alaska as a successful way to secure runways in extreme cold weather conditions.
